Quite mild but grey, misty in places too! Nothing exciting to report in the way of wildlife, apart from planting the Christmas tree (which had no roots) but we'll see... it's happened before, it's grown!

And Big Rob came very close to me today, at first he was just ahead of me on the ground amongst the foliage:
Then I told him to fly on the post - & he did! Yes, I am a robin whisperer! ;-)

7th January - Some sunshine but mostly dull
Great tits are still singing Spring! Bulbs are shooting up from the ground. Tawny owls are hooting in the evenings :)
Elgar is looking more handsome each day:

Big Rob is making himself known in the back garden:
Magnolia tree has many buds:
And a daffodil out in January possibly wishing it shouldn't have bothered! :(

5th January - the worst kind of wind
For photography... & generally wanting to be outside. There are bulbs pushing through the ground & tonight I heard the distinctive 'Ou ou ou' that the dog fox makes when he's calling to the vixen. It's one of my all time favourite *wild* sounds... I know that Spring is just around the corner, as soon they'll mate & in a couple of months time it will be the sounds of screeching playful cubs, well, it would have been if I still lived in London, but unfortunately here they're slaughtered by the gamekeepers & their dogs :(
Little Larry brightened my day as ever - no sign of Elgar:

4th Janaury - Grey, cold, wet & windy
Nothing changes!
Now this blog isn't only for the wildlife in my garden, but my own experimenting with my camera...
Clematis
With sunshine & a low f/stop
Half sunshine/half cloud
Sunshine & high f/stop
Poppy seed head:
Red velvet shank:
Little Larry:
His usual spot on the bird table opposite my study window:
And the ever present starlings:

3rd January - Storm!
Happy New Year says the Atlantic as it dumps a huge storm on the West Country (& the rest of the country), bringing trees down, power lines, buildings, flooding roads, rivers bursting... Hell basically!
But my ever faithful friends have weathered the storms....
Little Larry & Elgar:

2nd January - the sun shone but the hail cascaded down
Not many photographs taken today... the weather kind of put a stop to that!
